Malioboro Corner is back for the third year, supporting Bristol Indonesian Society yearly event.
The success of Malioboro Corner is down to one hard working mother of two; Herri Callen. She is famous for her Central Javanese cooking – a place where she grew up before moving to Jakarta (the capital city of Indonesia) to work in the hospitality industry – and her Satay –sate( seasoned, skewered and grilled meat).
She arrived in the United Kingdom in 2001 and live in Bristol since 2005. Although she is quite busy being a mother of two teenagers and as a Company Secretary, she managed to turn her passion and talent for cooking into a home based business. In August 2014, Malioboro Corner started to indulge clients for their yearning for Indonesian authentic Central Java dishes.
Her chosen name for her shop came from a famous place in Jogjakarta. Malioboro is the most famous street in Yogyakarta. It is a street where you may find an array of shops, restaurants and was once a ceremonial avenue for the Sultan to passes through on his way to and from the Keraton (Palace)
At the Festival, Malioboro Corner will be selling: Sate Maranggi, Sate Madura, Sate Lilit and Nasi Gudeg Komplit.
For those who have not tried her Nasi Gudeg Komplit, please do so.
