Beer Pletok,

 What is Beer Pletok/bir pletok?

A refreshing non alcoholic drink mostly known within the ethnic Betawi community. It is made up of spices namely grilled ginger, cinnamon, lemon grass and others.

Pletok is a mimic sound of something rattling, traditionally bir pletok is a made inside a bamboo tube together with ice cubes, when shaken together it made a “pletok” sound :)), the bubbles from the sugar reaction in the drink made it look like a beer/bir, that is why the Betawi people named their favourite healthy non alcohol drink: “Beer/bir Pletok”.
